The Garmin Nuvi 600 is a top of the line satellite navigation device. It comes preloaded with City Navigator NT map data for one of nine European regions without some of the extra features of the Nuvi 610 to cut back on the cost.
The touch screen menu on the Garmin Nuvi 600 has a very simple layout and is very easy to navigate without even reading the manual. It makes customizing the device and using the extra features very effortless to do.

The Nuvi 600 comes with a preloaded map of your choice. Garmin has broken Europe down into nine regional coverage areas and you can pick any one of these. Your route can be viewed in either 2d or 3d with different colors for all the roads and symbols for things like points of interest. To make driving in unknown places a little easier the directions are spoken and written out on the map.
This device has amazing route control with many options to customize how you want to get from point a to point b. I suggest watching the video to see just how many options there really are. The accuracy is incredible. It’s always within a minute of getting to the destination when it says it will.
The Garmin Nuvi 600 fits easily in your pocket even in the leather carry case. It is only 4.9″ x 2.9″ x 0.9″ and weighs 190 grams. It is designed to easily attach and unattach from the windshield with a suction cup mount. The super bright widescreen makes it very easy to use while driving.

You can play MP3’s either saved directly onto the device or any from say your memory card from you personal MP3 player. It plays nicely through the built in speakers so you can even use it while you’re in pedestrian mode. In your car if you have bought the FM transmitter you can pick it up on the radio and play it through your car speakers.
Other features are a picture viewer to see pictures on a memory card from your digital camera, and a currency converter and a language conversion dictionary if you’re traveling.
Built in to the Nuvi 600 is an extensive database of useful points of interest such as gas stations, hotels, and popular destinations. You can also add your own. Connecting to a computer with the USB will let you add more POI’s from your computer. You can download databases off the internet.

Before I decided on the Nuvi 600 I read over several different review sites. Honestly sometimes reading too many reviews and getting too many opinions might only make you doubt your abilities to make the decision. I wasn’t sure whether to get the Garmin Nuvi 600 or a Tom Tom One..

I couldn’t find a video of the 600 so I found this one of the 610. Read the Nuvi 600 vs Nuvi 610 topic to see the difference.
The Nuvi 600 and the Nuvi 610 are identical in everything from being able to pick one of nine regional maps to having the super bright widescreen. The only difference is that the Nuvi 610 comes with Bluetooth hands-free technology.

This thing was so simple that I just took it out of the box and plugged it into my car and started using it right away. I took it on a trip and it easily got me through busy unfamiliar towns. I bought the FM receiver and use the traffic alerts to avoid traffic at rush hour. On a roundabout I miscounted the exits and took the fourth instead of the fifth but it recalculated a new route instantly. The Nuvi 600 compared to other units I’ve tried was more reliable and accurate. I’ve had no problems so far.

I just bought this Nuvi 600 satellite navigator 4 days ago and I’m very impressed with its capabilities. Straight out of the box it was working and very easy to understand. I found the mapping for Dublin very detailed and up-to-date although this is the only place I’ve used it so far. The battery life isn’t the longest but if you leave the car charger in it isn’t a problem. The voice instructions are crisp and clear. It is extraordinary for its size and that size makes it very easy to take it with you anywhere which I plan on doing alot of since I truly love my new toy!

I updated the maps online from the Garmin website with ease. A feature I love is its ability to recalculate a route if you leave its route by choice. If you know the area and know a shorter way you can take it and it will help you along. You can show your actual location with the latitude and longitude in one screen display which I found very useful. When I take it walking around it’s so small it easily slips into my pocket so you really don’t have to leave it on display for people to steal in your car.

I wasn’t sure whether to get the Garmin Nuvi 600 or a Tom Tom One. Although there was less reviews for the Nuvi I still went for it because Garmin really seemed to be a superior brand. I’m very happy with my decision. The Nuvi is very small and very easy to use. It doesn’t really come with much for instructions, but it really doesn’t need to. You don’t have to be a computer nerd to figure this gadget out. I gave it four stars instead of five for a few reasons. There was no home charger included, although it’s cheap to buy, you only get a car charger. I had it freeze once and had to use the reset button on the back under the flap to restart it. I’d advise you not to think about it too much and go for the Nuvi. I don’t regret it at all.

This Nuvi 600 has chosen some really weird and inappropriate routes. It takes some very small cart tracks. Once it took one that was 9 kms of very narrow dirt road with deep ditches on the side, I couldn’t go more than 10 km/h so it made my trip much longer. I now have it set to only use paved roads so these are avoided. I also don’t like that you can’t put in more than one waypoint to hit on your route. Other then that its pretty good at what it is meant to do

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 600 a few weeks ago from Amazon.com and have been using it since. I have to agree that the instructions are a bit light on content. I don’t even know why they bother including them. They aren’t really needed. You can just take it out of the box, turn it on, and away you go. You can figure it all out in five to ten minutes. The verbal instructions are loud and crystal clear. The super bright widescreen display is also crystal clear. Both very important for making it easy to use while driving. I’ve used the Nuvi 600 driving around the city and on longer trips and I must say I’m enjoying driving a lot more. It really takes the stress out of it. I personally think this is the best satnav.
